Here's a snapshot of how we’ve demonstrated our environmental commitment in communities around the globe over the last year:

Orleans, France
Joining the local chamber of commerce and other partners in November 2003, Lexmark sponsored a seminar on sustainable development, focusing on resource preservation and pollution prevention.

Boulder, Colorado
Lexmark maintains the Partners for a Clean Environment Manufacturer's Certification and previously coordinated a pollution prevention workshop with Boulder civic and business leaders.

Cebu, Philippines
The Pollution Control Association of the Philippines Inc. named Lexmark one of its 2003 Success Story Award recipients for lowering ink waste at the bottle assembly plant by 82 percent.

Juarez & Chihuahua, Mexico
Proceeds from recycling inkjet cartridge packaging and manufacturing waste materials in 2003 helped fund projects for children, the elderly and education.

Lexington, Kentucky
Since 1999, Lexmark has co-sponsored Reforest the Bluegrass, an annual urban forest/storm water management event. Volunteers have planted 150,000 tree seedlings in Lexington, which has been designated a Five Star Restoration Site by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Toronto, Canada
During an Earth Day Canada 2004 tree planting festival in Toronto at Canada’s first national urban park, the Lexmark team won first place for having the most members and planting the most trees.

United Kingdom
The Financial Times Security Exchange awarded Lexmark membership in the FTSE4 Good Index Series. This series of financial indices identifies companies that meet globally recognized corporate responsibility standards, including commitment to environmental responsibility.

Australia
Lexmark joined other leading printer vendors in April 2003 to launch a cartridge collection program in conjunction with Planet Ark, an international, not-for-profit environmental organization. The Cartridges 4 Planet Ark program is designed to keep used toner and inkjet cartridges out of the waste stream

Malaysia and Thailand
Lexmark provided incentive programs for ink cartridge returns with donations going to charitable organizations and local schools respectively for cartridges collected.

South Africa
Lexmark kept cartridges out of landfills and made consequent donations to orphanages through the Cotlands Recycling Initiative for Babies (CRIB).
